Winter Considerations for Buyers

This section is particularly important because we receive a large annual snowfall; approximately 14' per year falls from the sky.

Key point: look for a driveway which is somewhat level so the slipping and sliding is kept to a minimum during the dumping onto the driveway, entry way or other frequently used area. Paved driveways are preferred because they are much easier to clear snow from and will keep the floors in your property much cleaner too.

Suggestion; plan on hiring a local service provider to plow your driveway and walkway after each storm. They will ask you to sign an annual (winter) contract which is what you want. The last thing you or your guests want to do upon arrival is to spend an hour shoveling a path so you can get to the front door of your cabin. Snow that sits for days or weeks in the southern Sierra becomes a mound of ice that will require heavy equipment to move, especially in a heavy winter.

This can really through a wrench in your plans upon arrival. I can give you a list of suggested snow plow operators.
