Design Considerations
Just as important as location, age and the physical conditions of the property is the design of your prospective second home.Give some thought to how you will be using your second home. How many people will you house the majority of the time? What will the adult/child ratio be? How many square feet do you want to heat in the winter?
The most popular floor plans are those which allow families to spend time together while not necessarily doing the same thing. Open “guest rooms” are the most popular for that reason and advised for resale purposes.
Most property owners visit their second homes several weeks a year between themselves and their family and friends. Our advice: prioritize your wants versus your needs before you start looking for a second home.
