Different Subdivisions, Different Providers
In remote, unincorporated areas, utilities and other services are provided to subdivisions in different ways and by different legal entities within a community as in the case in Shaver Lake.The new subdivisions typically have Fresno County water and sewer service. Most of the older developments have some form of property owner’s association (not to be confused with an actual Home Owner’s Association or “HOA”) or water company with the responsibility of providing water to its members to a community system.
Water from these systems, depending upon the number of residential services they provide, is routinely tested by the County Health Department for quality. Some developments have County sewer service, while others have septic systems as the provided method of sewage disposal.
